Rawhide is a faith-based residential treatment center that has been in the business of helping at-risk youth for over 40 years. During these 40 years, the roles of the Resident Instructor & Youth Specialist have been an integral part in ministering to the youth that we serve.
Located on the Wolf River in Northeastern Wisconsin, Rawhide’s campus is situated on 575 acres, 30 minutes west of Appleton, Wisconsin. Our organization offers hourly pay, room & board, medical, dental, life insurance, paid vacation & sick days, retirement savings and pension plan for qualified, ministry-minded individuals for openings in the positions of Resident Instructor and Youth Specialist.
Rawhide takes a completely unique approach to helping court-referred and at-risk young men. Instead of impersonal, institutional living, home-like residences each have up to ten young men, a set of houseparents (a husband and wife team), and two Resident Instructors or Youth Specialists. Young men see the role that faith, love and respect play in a family setting; many have never experienced the caring family atmosphere that Rawhide provides. The staff in each of Rawhide’s six youth homes live in the home and share their lives with the boys.
At Rawhide, these youth have been challenged to build moral character through spiritual and physical growth. As a Resident Instructor or Youth Specialist, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with the youth to help support this development by:
Being a Big Brother/Sister role model;
Providing a social and moral example to Rawhide youth while demonstrating Christian Biblical values;
Assisting and supporting the houseparents with the supervision of the living unit by supervising the household activities and administering discipline within the existing guidelines;
Encouraging the physical and social development of Rawhide youth by initiating and participating in recreational activities such as ball games, family trips, and community service projects;
Praying for opportunities to share the gospel and disciple these youth;
Counseling youth that have an assortment of backgrounds and issues that need to be approached with patience, truth and love.
